More Than Just Shelter

More Than Just Shelter

Nandhavanam is our shelter home in Chennai, established in 2020, for children from remote or difficult backgrounds. Here, they find not just a place to stay, but a nurturing environment to continue their education and personal growth.

The name "Nandhavanam" means "garden" — a place where young minds can grow, bloom, and flourish in a caring, family-like atmosphere.

Most residents come from our Tribal Outreach program or are referrals from other NGOs when a child needs a safe residential facility to continue schooling.

Impact Story

From Displacement to Dreams

Lakshmi, Nandhavanam resident
Lakshmi · Nandhavanam Resident

One of our first residents, Lakshmi, came from a coastal village after losing her home to floods. With nowhere to go and education seeming impossible, she faced an uncertain future.

At Nandhavanam, she found stability and enrolled in a local school. Surrounded by caring staff and fellow residents who became like siblings, she flourished. Today, she's at the top of her class and dreams of becoming a doctor.

Nandhavanam gave me more than a roof – it gave me a family and the courage to dream big.
